{"id":339,"date":"2020-06-15T18:12:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-15T18:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.smartreis.com\/123repete3\/?p=339"},"modified":"2021-06-01T21:38:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T21:38:22","slug":"serenity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smartreis.com\/123repete3\/heroes\/serenity\/","title":{"rendered":"Bravest Thing I&#8217;ve Ever Seen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Shelby died.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t know her.\u00a0 I was a tag-along guest at her memorial service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony was beautiful.&nbsp; So many people expressing their appreciation for Shelby&#8217;s life, and their disappointment and grief at her death.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toward the end, the pastor led the family up the aisle and past the gathered throng.\u00a0 I watched Shelby&#8217;s daughter walking up the aisle after the ceremony with her family.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t know her name.\u00a0 She must have been about ten years old.\u00a0 She was holding her mother&#8217;s boxed ashes cradled in her slender arms.\u00a0 She had a look of controlled contentment on her face, not quite a smile.\u00a0 Bravest thing I&#8217;ve ever seen.
